The Summer vibes 8ft Surfboard Leash Leg Rope – Matte Black/White is a 8ft leg rope built for mini mals, funboards and 8' softboards. Finished in matte black and white, matching straight across the Summer vibes range of boards, fins, leashes and traction.

The rule of thumb is a leash about the same length as your board. Too short and the board is too close to you, which can cause a safety issue when diving over the front; too long and it can get tangled and causes too much drag. A 8ft leash is the right call for beginners on a mini mal and anyone riding an 8-footer, and the premium moulded cuff and double swivel keep it comfortable and tangle-free session after session.

What length leash do I need? Pick a leash close to your board length. 5ft and 6ft suit shortboards, 7ft suits fish, mid-lengths and most softboards, 8ft suits mini mals, and 9ft or 10ft suits longboards and gliders.

Does it match the rest of the range? Yes. Summer vibes boards, fins, leashes and traction share the same colour stories so you can match your whole setup.

12-month replacement guarantee

We will replace any Summer vibes leash that legitimately snaps within 12 months of purchase. We cannot cover leashes that suffer a fin cut. This is where a leash wraps around the board and is cut by a fin, normally 5–10 cm from the end of the rail saver.

Which leash length and cuff should I choose?

For a surfboard, choose a leash at least as long as your board, then check this model’s cord diameter, cuff position and intended conditions.

Ask us with your board length, model and usual waves if you need help choosing.

What should I compare between leashes?

Check the listed cord length and diameter, cuff position, attachment and intended conditions. A thinner cord and a thicker cord are not the same choice.

How do Summer vibes leashes compare with the big brands?

Our leashes use the SAME premium-quality urethane as many top brands, for a strong, highly snap-resistant cord.

Slight differences in our cuff and rail-saver finishes help us keep costs down and pass those savings on to you. You still get an extremely comfortable cuff and a strong, dependable leash.

What warranty comes with my leash?

Summer vibes leashes have 12-month cover from the date of purchase. We will replace any Summer vibes leash that legitimately snaps within that period. Fin-cut damage is excluded from this replacement cover. Proof of purchase is required.

Summer vibes is an independent, Australian-owned surf business run by Branchy. He designs and tests Summer vibes boards and hardware in Gold Coast surf conditions, and helps customers choose their gear personally. We also stock selected products from other brands.

Where are you based, and can I collect my order?

We’re based at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast. Eligible order pickup is from our fulfilment warehouse at GC3PL, 14 Hawker Street, Currumbin Waters.

We don’t currently have a walk-in shop, although many stores nationwide stock our gear.

Choose pickup at checkout when offered, then wait for collection confirmation. Contact us to confirm warehouse hours before travelling.

Who makes our gear?

Our boards and hardware are designed and tested on the Gold Coast. We partner with experienced, family-owned manufacturers—specialists in their respective fields, with more than 20 years of surfboard and accessory manufacturing expertise.

How do I keep my leash in good condition?

Rinse it in fresh water after use, dry it in the shade and check the cord, cuff, swivels and attachment before each surf. Replace a damaged or overstretched leash.
